Narration Guidelines for Long-Form Submissions
If a participant submits a novel, novella, or long-form story, they are not required to perform the entire content. Instead, they should:
Choose a Powerful Excerpt
Participants must select and narrate a key excerpt or scene from their work — something that captures the essence, emotional core, or turning point of their story.
🔹 This excerpt should be self-contained — meaning it should make sense to a new listener, even if they haven’t read the whole piece.
Optional Short Intro (Within 5-minute limit)
Participants may use the first 20–30 seconds to briefly set the context:
“This scene is from my novel [Title]. It’s where the main character confronts their past for the first time...”
This gives the audience and judges a framework to better appreciate the excerpt.
Keep It Within 5 Minutes
The total narration time (including the optional intro) must not exceed 5 minutes.
